- Can you introduce yourself to us?
I am Funke Olotu, a final year Microbiology student, Style & Fitness blogger, Skin care & Natural hair DIY babe and a budding writer.
- How long have you been a blogger?
I have been blogging for about a year.
- How long have you been freelancing?
Close to six months.
- Can you tell us about your blog?
My blog is a fun space for anyone who cares to visit, I write on thought provoking issues. I am a student on a budget so I take care of my skin & natural hair with DIY’s which I share on my blog. In addition, fitness is quite new to my blog and I’m sharing tips to my amazing blog readers.
- In the course of your freelancing, what are some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?
I had an issue with what I wanted to specialize on because I didn’t want to be jack of all trades and master of none, I overcame that challenge by allowing myself enjoy writing and not putting myself in a shell, if I want to write about all the alphabets then so be it, if I enjoy it and it gives value to people, I’m happy.
- What are your favorite tools for working (photography and writing)?
My laptop (Jessie), my phone, camera that I do not have, Jotterpad & Textgram
- Tell us how your typical day looks like as a blogger.
I wake up to reply comments, my readers comments gets me started for the day, I try and check out for what they want and I go through my blog topic ideas, I do my research and jot down then I start drafting my post, but if it is an outfit post, I ask my amazing friends to help me with pictures.
- What motivates you to work?
PASSION, lots and lots of PASSION.
- What is one thing you love about your work?
Being able to help people, it makes me feel fulfilled.
- What advice would you give to a budding freelancer?
Work with what you have, if I was waiting for a camera I would not have started my blog and you will not be reading this interview and also pitch your content, don’t wait for opportunities, create them!
